If you suffer from pancreatitis you may want to consider a juicing diet because fresh, organic fruit or vegetable juice offers a healthy, nutrient dense and safer way to eat. For those who are extremely symptomatic (pain, nausea, vomiting) a juicing diet may be extremely beneficial because:
1) Juice is much easier to digest
2) Juice is nutrient dense
3) Juice is more easily absorbed by intestines with absorption issues
4) Whole nutrients, found in quality food, are more diverse and far superior to the fractionated and/or synthetic vitamins found in most vitamin/mineral supplements
First understand I am talking about a juicing diet designed to battle and resolve inflammation, not to lose weight. You may lose some weight because vegetable juice doesn’t contain a lot of calories. But weight loss is not the goal here. Inflammation resolution is the goal.
Both vegetable and fruit juices contain tons of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (phytochemicals, flavonoids, polyphenols). Many vegetables are highly anti-inflammatory and help quell pancreatic inflammation while promoting healing. If you do the food diary prep, start a juicing diet and begin taking some powerful healing supplements chances are you will notice a dramatic improvement.
That is the reason you may want to consider a juicing diet and then keep juicing in your daily routine along with solid foods when able to tolerate them without symptoms. Of course you need to buy a quality juicer so you can properly juice organic fruits and vegetables.
Homemade juices can include a variety of both fruits and vegetables. From apples and oranges to tomatoes and zucchini. The following blog post provides you with a few juicing diet benefits and tips.
Juicing Diet Benefits
My favorite vegetable juice combinations include tomatoes, onions, green pepper, celery, kale, carrots, spinach, watercress, cabbage, broccoli and garlic. Sometimes I add a nice beet for more nutrients and the beet sugar for taste. This is a power-packed, nutrient dense juice and the leftover pulp fiber makes excellent soup. I don’t juice necessarily for great taste of the juice itself. I juice for one reason. To create a food that is easily digested, absorbed by the intestines (even if there are intestinal issues like malabsorption) and extremely rich in nutrients.
Pancreatitis patients are often low on potassium. Potassium is essential for heart health. It is difficult to get to much potassium from food unless the kidneys are diseased but it is easy to get to little and low potassium isn’t a healthy state. The vomiting and diarrhea that many pancreatitis patient experience can lead to the depletion of potassium and other minerals. The juice ingredients in my favorite juice are loaded with potassium, most other minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients. IF you have kidney disease it may not be a good juice for you.
Juicing Tips
I personally don’t mix vegetables and fruit very often. Fresh, organic fruits and vegetables are expensive. I don’t want to waste the leftover pulp. I use it to make healthy vegetable broth and soups (chicken, lentil, bean). If I’m not going to make soup the day I juice I freeze it for later use. I found that fruit doesn’t always go well with soups. You can experiment and see what suits you best in regards to flavor. I do recommend you pay more attention to nutrient density benefit than taste. The goal is to resolve any inflammation and heal your pancreas.
Store all your fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator, especially in the summertime. Juicing depends on fresh produce and leaving them out starts the process of decay more quickly. Keep your produce nice and cool until you eat it so that you can preserve as many vitamins as you can.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on fresh juicing produce as long as you shop in season. Berries are great in the summer, but will cost you an arm and a leg to buy in the winter, so skip them until the prices drop again. Apples last all winter, so feel free to buy a few bushels and keep them in the garage.
Keep all the tools for juicing, cutting board, knives, measuring cups, juicer, etc. together in their own place so you always know where they are. This prevents the frustration that ensues when you want to juice up a storm and can’t find your stuff.
Brush your teeth as soon as possible after drinking fresh fruit juice. Fruit juice is naturally high in sugar, in addition to containing acids that can eat away at tooth enamel. The longer these sugars and acids sit in your mouth, the worse the damage will be, so brush soon.
Homemade fruit juices, vegetable juices and mixed juices are nutritious, many are delicious and, best of all, completely natural. Your own juicing diet gives you the freedom to make your own unique blends that may very well become your family’s traditional favorites. A healthy, nutritious juicing diet is limited only by your imagination. Bottom’s up!
Top Quality Highly Rated Juicers
Here’s a list of some of the better juicers on the market. Some are inexpensive, some are not. There is no perfect juicer. Get one that suits your lifestyle, needs, what you want to accomplish and fits your budget. If you are new to juicing or on a limited budget the Black & Decker juicer for under $30 is hard to beat. It’s cheap, works like a charm. The only draw back I noticed? Its capacity is small so you need to chop or cut up your fruits and veggies and it doesn’t have any whistles and bells. Just a functional, basic juicer that is cheap enough to simply throw away if it dies a year or two down the road.
My husband has chronic pancreatitis and is just coming out of an acute attack. I found your website and we are going to try your recommended food diary, cleanse and juicing recommendations. I also ordered all the supplements. My question is what combination should we begin with for the initial juice after the cleanse? I was considering kale and carrots and then go from there but I wondered if it should contain more ingredients like tomatoes, onions, etc., that you suggested was your favorite veggie juice or just add each of those one at a time. As new foods are introduced do they need to be juiced in addition to the original juice or can they be eaten solid (whole)?
Hi Connie – I’m sorry to hear that your husband is not well. Hopefully he’ll be fine soon. You have asked a really good question. According to the food diary protocol you go with one food at a time. I’d do my juice recipe before the initial fast for a couple days to see how he handles it. That is AFTER his inflammation has resolved. If he is just coming out of an acute attack he shouldn’t be eating anything for a few days, water and supplements. Then my juice concoction AFTER all symptoms have resolved. Once he feels better then another fast, the cleansing and then the juice as long as it didn’t cause problems when first used. Otherwise one food at a time. I’m thinking the juice will be fine, it works for me. No, new foods don’t need to be juiced. Just eaten raw or cooked without oil or fat. With the juice would be fine, as long as the juice passed muster. Good luck. Any other questions please ask! 🙂
Hello Health Guy!! I lost your site, FINALLY FOUND YOU AGAIN THANK GOD!! I AM WONDERING HOW MANY LIVES YOU HAVE ACTUALLY SAVED!! WHAT A BLESSING YOU ARE TO THOSE SUFFERING!! YOU ARE LIKE A LIGHT IN A TUNNEL!! I AM TRYING TO READ EVERYTHING I CAN, LEARN AND PRAYERFULLY GET WELL OR AT LEAST BETTER!! I have just started taking the 2 supplements you recommend and I notice a difference already!! Now I need to ask what other supplements can I add? I was taking b12, d3, c, zinc, e, and considering adding magnesium, a,k,fish oil, folic acid, calcium and anything else I can find to feel better. I am still in pain right now, so I will not add anything but I am taking the grapeseed you recommend and the curcumin, thank you bc I really notice a big difference already!! Forgive me if I am repeating myself. I would love your thoughts on sambucol black elderberry for immune support. I raise my Grandson on my own since his Mother was killed in auto accident, he was 9 months old, he is now going on 9 years, hewas vaccine injured at 15 months and he has SEVERE SENSORY, SEVERE AUTISM AND HE IS NONVERBAL. HE IS MY REASON. MY MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION IS IS THERE ANY SAFE ENZYME I CAN TAKE? I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS, BUT NOW I AM UNABLE TO EAT AND HAVE A FEAR OF TAKING PRESCRIPTION MEDS, I DONT TAKE ANYTHING AT ALL DUE TO FEAR OF PRESCRIPTION MEDS. IF YOU ADVISE THAT I TAKE ENZYMES I WILL TAKE THEM BC IM TIRED OF THE PAIN. I READ SIDE EFFECTS OF CREON AND I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. IF YOU KNOW OF A SAFE ALTERNATIVE, I AM, FOREVER GRATEFUL 🙏 AND PRAYERS ARE SO MUCH APPREICATED!!!!!! THANK GOD I FOUND YOU AGAIN!!!!
Hi Lorinda … thank you for the kind words but I doubt I have saved anyone’s life. Anyway … regarding the supplements the three that I use and call my cocktail are grape seed extract, curcumin and vit c. Once you start these keep track of how you progress. Diet is extremely important so avoid all high fat foods and try to keep your fat grams below 5 grams per meal and 25 grams daily max. This objective will require the elimination of all high fat foods. There is also a very good supplement for provision of all essential vitamins and minerals for general good health. IF you think you may need pancreatic enzymes to help digest your food this one is similar to prescription formulas. I’d start with one cap with meals to see how it goes. The only other thing I can suggest would be to keep some Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen = the same thing) on hand to handle any inflammation that may arise. Since you mentioned you still have pain maybe taking one advil a couple times daily might help. Stay away from other NSAIDS except maybe aspirin. They don’t work as well as Ibuprofen. IF you ever have to go to the ER you can get Toradol via IV. Toradol is a very good anti-inflammatory very similar to Ibuprofen. I wish you better health. If you have more questions please ask. If I can help I will.
Hello, please forgive me for being “scattered” my little guy keeps me on the RUN. I finally found your reply, don’t ask lol. I am not one to take meds unless it’s like an emergency. But, if you recommend it, I will take, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I do not believe in pharmaceuticals. Right now I am using grapeseed and curcumin because of your suggestion and it seems to be HELPING PRAISE GOD!! I have lost where you said how many times per day we should take it? Is it alright to continue supplements I was taking before? I have been going through this for several years but, I was not diagnosed until recently. I just pray I can get it under control. I have been trying to work up the courage to take the enzymes. I have some Pure encapsulations Digestive Enzymes Ultra, Vegetarian formula. I bought them because the NOW site did not have the ones you take. I have had a lot of reactions from different medications, this is just a supplement but I have read about side effects with the creon and damage from long term use… I just want your advice, I do not trust anything other than your advice. I am sorry to bother you with writing so many times, I have had 2 pretty serious issues going on and it has me in a whirlwind, but GOD IS WITH ME and I thank HIM that we all have YOU!! Right now I am only drinking blended fruits and in the evening sometimes I can handle a small potato and a bit of veggies in the evening and that is about it. I was doing okay and then suddenly, the pain got worse, I had to pretty much STOP eating at all for several weeks. The last time my doctor told me anything was that my lipase level was high. I have no idea what that means. I am a little fearful because I know I have had this problem a long time. But, I TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL MY HEART. The last time I saw the Nurse Practioner and all I got from her convo was that all my problems are anxiety which she blamed on my little one. And, that over-the-counter is out of the question. I have more faith in the enzymes from NOW or Pure encapsulations. But, her creon scares me. I have enough going on without adding to the cause. Please Pray for me!! I seriously want to CRUSH IT LIKE YOU HAVE!! God Bless you Kind Sir, I am holding on to every word you have written and I AM SO GRATEFUL!! I have to LIVE for my little guy!! Prayers are SO MUCH APPRECIATED!! GOD BLESS YOU!! Is it ok to ask more questions at another time? I’m worried I’ve left something out!! I found your site a long time ago, then I lost it, so, I haven’t been doing anything good for myself until recently. If you look at other sites, they either do not know what they are talking about, even medical professionals do not know and I have gotten some bad info, like we can eat certain things that we really should NOT eat. Even the doctor told me that I could eat butter, and that we all need fat in our diets. I can learn to live without fat. It would be easier than the pain I have been experiencing.
Hi Lorinda … Thank you for the kind words. Glad you found my response. Feel free to ask questions anytime. I can’t prescribe treatment. I am not a doctor but my goal for the supplements was to take them 4x daily so that my pancreas was bathed in anti-inflammatory goodness almost all the time. The dosing amount could increase for example from 100 mg of grape seed extract 4x daily to 200, etc until I saw/felt the results I was seeking. Just increase slowly. IF you experience any unpleasant side effects back the doses down or stop. Will pray for your healing.
Hello Sir, I am Sifat from Bangladesh. Two months a ago i found abdominal pain then i go to the hospital and stayed for four days and found i have an acute pancretitis. After two months i have an attack again and found out in USG that i have chronic pancretitis. My doctor prescrived me for normal low diet and pancreatin medicine when i take foods. What can i do to heal from pancreatitis fully and i don’t want to go to hospital for again and again if acute attacks come and i want to stop it fully. Please suggest me some tips. Thank you sir!
Hi Sifat – sorry to hear you have been unwell. Read the articles on this site, especially those regarding diet, alcohol, and supplements.
Thanks. Will let you know how things go in a while. God bless!
Great Connie I hope things go well! And you are most welcome 🙂
Thanks. Great read. As any recipes you want to share?
Thanks Mat glad you are enjoying the blog. I did a breakfast idea post but as yet haven’t gotten to lunch and dinner. My recipes wouldn’t make anyone’s mouth water lol
I want you to know my dad has been dealing with this for years..he has chronic pancreatitist..he hasn’t drinker alcohol for about 9 months. The last attack he was admitted in hospital where he was fed food and throwing up but still fed food sent him home where he became so weak couldn’t eat throwing up falling when trying to walk had a stroke in my arms (changed me for the worse ) had a seizure. He was dying we both knew it. I refused to give up and he has always been a fighter. I took 3 adderralls a day for 9 days only sleeping two hours each night. I had to do something. His pancreas swollen so bad it pushed his intestines into his back and shit off his intestines and colon. I came across your web site something in my heart lit up. I knew this was it. I didnt feel that way reading so many other sites. You saved my fathers life. Ten hours into starting he went from grey to a beautiful color. I cried. The next day he was standing on his porch. Three days later he was driving. Omg it was a miracle. He has been doing everything you say on your site. The issue now is he is still having pain. He was told by a doctor he has no pancreatic function but thank God no cancer. But doctor said he be surprised if he doesn’t soon. I say fuck him (sorry ). Doctor wants to send him to surgeon not sure why. But again I say fuck him. They sent my father home to die. You and God saved his life. I am very blessed that he is still here. But I hsve to be honest I live in fear that I will lose him soon. He is diabetic on twi insulin also a medication that us used to clean build up in arteries due to he has had 3 strokes. Should he still take the meds or just tge supplements. Im a firm believer that meds do more damage then good. Buying afraid I will kill him if I take him off. It hurts me so bad to see the pain he is still in. Please help me I only trust you with his life.
On a side note. Question about me. I know you are about pancreas I dont have it. GOD BLESS the ones that do suffer. I have severe anemia and spinal neuropathy. Severe pain everyday. Dye to pain my life sucks. I taje tge powdered vitamins that you use I also use grape seed and have tried tumeric. No change no relief. Any suggestions you have im so depressed its bad. Please help us both if you can. Thank you so much!
Hi Kathy, you and your dad are definitely having some rough times. I’m happy to hear of his improvement. 10 hours is a quick change. God deserves the glory. Hopefully your dad will continue to improve. If your dad is still experiencing pain maybe more grape seed daily would help. How much grape seed, curcumin and vitamin C is he taking daily? What prescription medications does your father take? Always check with his doctor about his prescription meds, I’m not qualified to say in that regard.
Why do you have anemia and what kind is it? I’m sorry you haven’t seen any improvement via the supplements. I don’t know if they will help you. B 12 may help your anemia depending upon why you have it.
I had posted comment a while back about my father and I. Him having pancreatitist and myself with Anemia and Spinal Neuropathy. Im sorry I havnt responded sooner but I pretty much hit rock bottom. My unbearable pain has been so severe I have given up if you know what I mean. My spinal cord protective coating has been destroyed by Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Cervical Hernated Disc killing me. I saw what following your plan has did for my father and prayinh you could help me repair my spinal cord and get my pain under control. Tumeric and grape seed dont help me. I have anemia due to gastric bypass surgery. I know Im looking for a miracle in a big hay stack butv Im praying your my light. Thank you Kathy
Hi Kathy – I have to be totally upfront. I know as much about the spinal cord, injuries, disease effects etc to the cord and possible regeneration as I do about living comfortably on Pluto. I’m glad to hear that your father is doing better. That’s a good thing. Unfortunately it doesn’t mean that I have any knowledge of value pertaining to your circumstances. BUT just for giggles and grins allow me to ask a question. You said: “My spinal cord protective coating has been destroyed by Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.” Are you referring to myelin?
Hi…I’m concerned with the amount of sugar in the grapefruit juice spiking my BS and consequently making my pancreas work even harder.
Please advise…many thanks,
Doug
Doug, you must be diabetic. I would have thought white unsweetened grapefruit juice would have LESS sugar because of the tartness vs Pink. Pink tastes sweeter to me (my grandparents used to buy it when i was a kid) so I assumed (wrong thing to do) that it had less sugar. It seems to actually have MORE, 1 gram per serving more. I would NOT have thought that in a million years! Unfortunately I still can’t tell you if there is a difference but here’s a thought that will solve the problem. Grapefruit seed extract. I can’t see any sugar in the ingredient section of my bottle and it is way cheaper than juice but it doesn’t have the flavor either 🙁 – so – the pills may be a better option for you and eliminate the sugar found in both juices.
Please remember patients with NO medications. Generally, you are to avoid grapefruit due to negative interaction. Please consult your doctor.
You are right Leah – grapefruit juice (grapefruit period) does not play well with a lot of medications. In fact, lethal interactions can occur with some drugs. ALWAYS check with your physician and pharmacist before eating grapefruit (in any way) while on medication.
I am blessed to find your site…I have inflammed pancreas alot so I am going to buy the grapeseed exctract and Vit C formula you suggested…God Bless You so much
You’re welcome Jeannie and I’m sure you’ll feel good results and THANK YOU for the blessing – I can use all I can can get 🙂 And may Almighty God bless you as well. Get well, stay well 🙂
I cant take the grapefruit extract because of my BP meds but will the grapeseed extract curcumin and vitamin C help me with the diet?
Yes! Grape seed extract, curcumin and vit C coupled with a proper low fat diet should help to do great things! I’d be very surprised if they didn’t.
I’m currently in the hospital and finally have the diagnoses of pancreatitis. (I don’t know the difference between acute and chronic) this is my 4th similar attack since January with no previous diagnose. I am 55 and consider myself to live a healthy lifestyle. I have been following a whole foods diet the past 11/2 years after having my gb removed. I continued with chronic pain after eating and nothing showed on tests. I started a food journal and realized that meat all meat, dairy and eggs caused me pain. So I started researching a plant based diet (oil=free vegan) Still having pain. I am reading your page while sitting in the hospital on my 3rd day npo. They are hoping to start me on water tomorrow. Then veggie broth the next day. My enzymes have been coming down and pain is decreasing. My question to you is when I go home I would like to do your juice diet…is there any reason why I couldn’t eat the whole veggie or fruit. I usually have a whole fruit and juice smoothie every morning. With 2-3 fruits raw veggies and a raw whole grain. I will start slow with just a veggie and build like you recommend…my blender is made to do this. What are your thoughts. Could the raw veggies and roughage be to much.
In reading your blogs I have found that what I thought was a healthy diet was problematic for me in that I would through a whole avocado with my homemade almond milk and a dollop of pure vanilla extract in my smoothie. I loved guacamole sandwiches and ate coconut everything. But I have not been using oil. Oh plus pure nut butters were my go to when I didn’t have time to cook. So a lot of healthy fats but not so good for my pancreas!
Thank you for all the information. I am optimistic and hopeful that I will be able to tackle this with all the information you have given. I’ll have to wait on the supplements as I am not sure the cause of my disease. I vaguely remember my gb surgeon saying something about the SOD when he removed my GB but ,I don’t know what. Once my amylase and lipase are normal and I am pain free they will schedule the ECRP.
Again thank and May God continue to bless you with good health.
Angela
Hi Angela – sorry to hear you have been ill and have joined our club. Sucks don’t it? About the juice vs raw veggies/fruits. For the first few days (IF it were me) I’d do juice. It’s easier to digest. But you can do whatever you wish.
I am REALLY glad to hear they are going to graduate you from water to veggie broth. They are getting smarter! They used to feed people high fat meals out of the gate and people would get sick again and of course the docs probably wondered why.
ALL fat is bad for a damaged pancreas. Plant based fats (polyunstaurated) seem to be tolerated more readily than monounsaturated (high fat foods such as nuts, seeds, avocado, olives, etc) and saturated fat (animal fat) which is the fat least tolerataed.
IF it were me I’d get started on the grape seed extract, vit C and if needed Ibuprofen or aspirin as soon as possible to eliminate the inflammation but avoid the curcumin since there’s the chance of SOD. I’ll pray that your recovery and ERCP goes well. Thank you and good luck Angela. 🙂
Just wondering why Curcumin is bad if you have SOD
Hi Tanya – curcumin increases bile flow. increased bile flow can aggravate the So and cause it to spasm which inturn could cause AP.
Thanks for that information. I have a history of pancreatitis and was just sipping turmeric and gingeroot tea when I read that curcumin is not good for pancreatis. Hopefully gingerroot and garlic is not contraindicated. Also I read that grapefruit juice is just as good at lowerering blood sugar as metformin. Do you know if that is accurate?
Hi Myrtle – Grape seed extract and curcumin are both highly anti-inflammatory and awesome for pancreatitis. I don’t know who wrote about curcumin being “not good” but they are wrong. Ginger root is also anti-inflammatory and helps with nausea. I don’t know about grapefruit juice helping blood sugar levels.
hi what reciepes do you recommend for pancreatics
Hi bruno – anything low in fat, void of red meat, pork, duck, goose, alcohol – oh sorry were you referring to juice recipes? Anything made with fruit and/or veggies. I prefer juicing vegetables. Kale, spinach, broccoli, tomato, watercress, beets, carrots, celery, cucumber, peppers (red, orange, yellow, green). I juice for nutrients and the easy absorption/digestion, not taste. Yes, I’m weird lol You might want to get yourself a juicing recipe book. For fruit I want the whole fruit not just juice so I use a blender for fruits instead of a juicer. I make great smoothies (banana, pineapple, orange, kiwi and blue berries create an awesome smoothie).
Celery and spinach both tend to rank high as foods that are high in residual pesticides. Good idea to purchase organic. Also good idea to check to make sure foods labeled as organic mean free from pesticides and not just free from synthetic pesticides.
Myrtle those are good points!
Hi my husband wad just diagnosed with pancreatitis n we its very hard when ur used to eating everything we immediately cut down on the sugars such as cokes which he was very much addicted too im having a hard time finding n knowing wat foods would take the inflamation down n wat juices or drinks can he take throughout the day since he is a mover n is constantly sweating n liquid intake is very important wat drinks r more appropriate for him thank u
Hi Rose – I understand. It is kind of overwhelming. There are several posts on this site regarding diet (what to eat and what not to eat). Look under the category section to find them a little easier. If your husband is not on medications that prevent him from drinking grapefruit juice I’d recommend it BUT make sure about any medications he may be on BEFORE drinking it – ask his doc and or pharmacist if grapefruit juice is acceptable. Water and vegetable juice such as V8 will help keep him hydrated.
Hey ! Thanks for all this info!
I have a question is almond milk ok to drink ? And also my husband has been following your steps but he has severe back pains,do you know if that’s normal or is he still doing something bad on his diet?
Hi Roxana – You are welcome 🙂 Almond milk usually contains too much fat for a damaged pancreas but I know of some who have drank it and said they do ok. I wouldn’t. About the back pains – do they feel like pancreas pain? Sometimes it takes quite awhile to heal but there is always a possibility that something isn’t agreeing with him (diet). Check fat content (of each food, meal and daily total intake) and for foods that may be on one of my article pages as a food to avoid.
Thanks for putting together such a great source of information. I find that juicing a head of cabbage in the morning and then drinking it through out the day knocks out the pain. (Was originally misdiagnosed with gastritis and found information on cabbage healing the gut). Here’s some information about sulphoraphanes in cruciferous vegetables targeting inflammation. https://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/dietary-factors/phytochemicals/isothiocyanates
Hi Wade thanks for the link. Good info. Yes, compounds such as flavonoids and sulforaphane are very beneficial.
My girlfriend is having lots of pain and nausea consistent with this. We are going to try out juicing and remove fats and other trigger foods. Thank you for the great recipe and other tips. Let’s see how it goes. We don’t want to have to go to the hospital during this pandemic.
Hi Owen I understand. Hey can you call her doc and explain she needs some really good nausea meds such as zofran odt 8 mg (berry flavor) and phenergan (promethazine) suppositories 25 mg? That way she has both. Dumping all the high fat foods, going no fat or very low fat with juicing is a great start. I am betting she will feel the difference in short order. Also go to the health store and buy vit c and grape seed extract. Get them in stand-alone formulas so that she can take high doses without worrying about toxicity from some weird ingredient or one that is known to be toxic in large doses such as vitamin A, Selenium and others. Just grape seed extract. Just vitamin c. Then have her start taking low doses at first and working up until she feels better. You can find more info on supplements and how to use them on my site. I hope she is better soon 🙂
Do you drink herbal teas? If so what kind?
I actually do drink teas, black tea (earl gray) and green tea. I don’t drink any of the others but see no reason someone shouldn’t.
Hello, I have pancreatitis don’t know if its chronic or acute. I found out by reading one of my hospital reports. Never been kept in hospital for this , but have went in for it many times. I will start your regimens today. Also my sugar has been very low I am not diabetic. I hope the inflammation will heal & my pancreas will kick back in. Have you ever heard of that happening . I really Thank you for what you’ve done for us. You are a good man.
Hi Lavonne-sorry to hear you have been ill. Yes the pancreas can heal.
My husband is getting repeating episodes of Acute Pancreatitis since 3 years. Please suggest the juice combination which he can take in empty stomach in morning to keep his pancreas healthy. Also, I have got prediabetic issue due this stressful condition of my husband hence if I can also take the same juice combination. Kindly help here.
Hi aJ … the juices I use most are Ocean Spray 100% grapefruit juice and low sodium V8. Both can probably be found at your local grocery store. IF you have a juicer you can also juice your own veggies and grapefruit. IF you or your husband are on any type of prescription meds check with your doctor and pharmacist whether or not you can safely drink or eat grapefruit with your medication(s). Grapefruit is notorious for causing problems, even death because of interactions with prescription meds. So check FIRST BEFORE drinking or eating grapefruit or grapefruit juice.
Hi, thank you so much for your reply. We are feeling so much helpless as my husband is just 32 and his pancreatitis cause is not getting diagnosed. Doctors have told its idiopathic or genetic. He is NOT on any medication. Since 3 years he has got 3 major episodes, I don’t want him to get it 4th time consecutively in a row. Hence, I cannot simply sit ideally and wait to check if the 4th episode is coming in or not. Seeing your blog, I have got some hope to check if these things may work, hence I want to give him some juice/supplements in the morning to keep his pancreas healthy. We have never tried grapefruit so I am little skeptical to start with it for now. In your other comments and supplement section you have mentioned for Grape Seed Extracts and Vitamin C supplements . Please advice if he can start taking Grape Seed extracts and Vitamin C/Antioxidant supplements. Also, any advice on home made juice combination viz carrot, apple etc will be very helpful. Thanks.
Hi aJ … you’re welcome. Anytime. I understand that feeling of apprehension. Fear is an enemy that needs to be conquered so that an individual can move forward. Since your husband isn’t on any medication it should be perfectly safe to eat fresh grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice. It’s an important part of my diet because it stopped my acute pancreatitis attacks way before I discovered what supplements work to resolve inflammation. In fact on the page about grapefruit I believe there is a link to a study that states grapefruit protected mice from acute pancreatitis when they were challenged with a drug that causes it. The supplements should be fine too. You can find them all on this site. Grape seed extract, curcumin/turmeric and vitamins C. I hope your husband is much better very soon. Keep in touch. If you have questions please ask.
